There is now an official driver on the RaLink website. But it is essentially an updated version of this one ... and it still sucks (ie. it is not using the standard configuration framework and has its own configuration file, thus no NetworkManager greatness, completely broken when using standard distro tools which rely on iwconfig, wpa implementation not based on wpa_supplicant and so on ...)

Another better alternative but still in development is the rt2x00 reimplementation.
